The author captured the feelings of a newly-rescued, newly-returned victim of crime perfectly。 It is hard enough to have to give statements to law enforcement authorities。 Will the reporters and nosy civilians kindly go away?!?
Jonathan Lupa,
Short story。 Characters。 Fine。
Christine,
I have such a soft spot for Mensah and Murderbot’s relationship and this was a great addition。
Amy,
Just a nice little tidbit in between Exit Strategy and Fugitive Telemetry (timeline-wise)。 I think this is one of the few parts of the MBD that is told from a non-MB point of view。。。
Heike,
Guess what? Every book, novel, novella and short-story that features Murderbot gets a five star rating from me。 This one, due to the fact that Murderbot is not the main protagonist, and the short novella really doesn't tell much of a story, gets one rating star docked, sorry。 Guess what? Sarah,
Loved the change of perspective!!!
Aga,
The fifth star goes to all those cute moments ❤️
Jo (Mixed Book Bag),
Told from the viewpoint of Dr。 Mensah, this follows her as she tries to readjust after almost dying。 Murderbot is a side figure in this short story。 It does fill in a gap between books。 A must read for Murderbot fans。
Sue,
In case you are searching for a live-link to this short, short story:https://booksjar。com/pdf-epub-home-ha。。。Sweet window into Dr Mensah's mind and emotions and how she sees Murderbot and the devastating affect the various and many traumas she has experienced are weighing on her。 As in all the other Murderbot diaries, it protects its friends/clients to the max。 In case you are searching for a live-link to this short, short story:https://booksjar。com/pdf-epub-home-ha。。。Sweet window into Dr Mensah's mind and emotions and how she sees Murderbot and the devastating affect the various and many traumas she has experienced are weighing on her。 As in all the other Murderbot diaries, it protects its friends/clients to the max。 。。。more

Murderbot from an outside perspective!
Kat,
4/5A surprisingly deep Murderbot short story from the point of view of Dr Mensah。 I enjoyed the parts discussing what it means to be a slave and whether being a made sentience/intelligence makes something less of a person。 There was also insight into Mensah's mental well-being after the events of Exit Strategy that were well portrayed and made my heart hurt for her a little。 Despite all that it was still light-hearted and a fun little dip into the Murderbot world。 4/5A surprisingly deep Murderbot short story from the point of view of Dr Mensah。 I enjoyed the parts discussing what it means to be a slave and whether being a made sentience/intelligence makes something less of a person。 There was also insight into Mensah's mental well-being after the events of Exit Strategy that were well portrayed and made my heart hurt for her a little。 Despite all that it was still light-hearted and a fun little dip into the Murderbot world。 。。。more
Steven Middaugh,
Hostage aftermath。。。Ayda is trying to work out her inner demons in the aftermath of a hostage situation。 Murderbot aka SecUnit was keeping a watch over her。 Yet her family and friends were apprehensive over the SecUnit。 Still, this is an interesting story with different POV the Murderbot’s diary entry。 Looking forward to more Murderbot。
Holly,
I simply cannot say enough nice things about the Murderbot Diaries。
Steven Mastroyin,
Very quick little story (chapter length) from a different perspective than murderbot。 Nice little addition to the lore。
Scott Preece,
An interstitial short-short from Mensah's viewpoint。 It explains a bit more of her backstory, but it's not directly part of the main timeline。 An interstitial short-short from Mensah's viewpoint。 It explains a bit more of her backstory, but it's not directly part of the main timeline。 。。。more
Netanella,
A Murderbot story told from the POV of Dr。 Mensah, as she's suffering from PTSD after her abduction in the last book。 I caught a few typos, and wasn't happy about that。 I suppose to err is human, especially when we're reading a book about constructs and artificial intelligence。I'm looking forward to Fugitive Telemetry。 A Murderbot story told from the POV of Dr。 Mensah, as she's suffering from PTSD after her abduction in the last book。 I caught a few typos, and wasn't happy about that。 I suppose to err is human, especially when we're reading a book about constructs and artificial intelligence。I'm looking forward to Fugitive Telemetry。 。。。more
Arthur L Spain,
Nice short storyAs others have it’s nice to have the story from Dr。 Mensah’s point of view。 It’s also nice to get some input on how others see SecUnit。
Fiona,
Unusually for the Murderbot series, this one really wouldn't stand up to a standalone read。 As a bridge between novels/novella though, for people already familiar/in love with the series, it works (especially the bit where Murderbot jumps over Ratthi's head)。Free from Tor here: https://www。tor。com/2021/04/19/home-h。。。 Unusually for the Murderbot series, this one really wouldn't stand up to a standalone read。 As a bridge between novels/novella though, for people already familiar/in love with the series, it works (especially the bit where Murderbot jumps over Ratthi's head)。Free from Tor here: https://www。tor。com/2021/04/19/home-h。。。 。。。more
MG,
Fun short story in that we get a new angle on beloved core characters in the series, but it is more a series of scenes than a true story since nothing of consequence happens。 I still love Murderbot。
Dan,
Insiders Short StoryVery good short story as a part of the whole series which is also very good bit it is not intended to stand on its own。
John A Kisiah,

Chloe,
Oh look, a Murderbot short story that's very explicitly about the inherent slavery of the capitalistic end-state that is the Corporation Rim and contrasts it with the post-scarcity socialism of Preservation。I love it。I also love that we learn Dr Mensah's first name, learn more about how Preservation views constructs in general, get a brief but very interesting reasoning about why she uses SecUnit as SecUnit's name over Murderbot and a general reinforcing that Mensah may have 'bought' SecUnit but Oh look, a Murderbot short story that's very explicitly about the inherent slavery of the capitalistic end-state that is the Corporation Rim and contrasts it with the post-scarcity socialism of Preservation。I love it。I also love that we learn Dr Mensah's first name, learn more about how Preservation views constructs in general, get a brief but very interesting reasoning about why she uses SecUnit as SecUnit's name over Murderbot and a general reinforcing that Mensah may have 'bought' SecUnit but in reality she adopted them and due to what happened Exit Strategy, this became a mutual adoption。 。。。more
Mary Ann Pastene,
So glad this was availableNice compliment to the Diary Series。 Enjoyed the different voice。 I do hope there are more books in this universe。
AndrewP,
Another short that occurs immediately after the events in Exit Strategy and is mostly seen from the point of view of Dr Mensah。
Tina Christopher,
This was a fun little story。 It was nice to see a different point of view, but I missed Murderbot;)。

Wells, Martha。 Home, Habitat, Range, Territory。 Murderbot Diaries No。 4。5。 Tor, 2021。HHRT is an independently published short story that connects Network Effect with Fugitive Telemetry。 In fact, it could well have served as a prologue to Fugitive Telemetry, except that it is told from Dr。 Mensah’s point of view instead of the usual Murderbot first person。 Dr。 Mensah is still suffering from posttraumatic stress from her last adventure, but she is unwilling to compromise her political position to Wells, Martha。 Home, Habitat, Range, Territory。 Murderbot Diaries No。 4。5。 Tor, 2021。HHRT is an independently published short story that connects Network Effect with Fugitive Telemetry。 In fact, it could well have served as a prologue to Fugitive Telemetry, except that it is told from Dr。 Mensah’s point of view instead of the usual Murderbot first person。 Dr。 Mensah is still suffering from posttraumatic stress from her last adventure, but she is unwilling to compromise her political position to get it treated。 She also must negotiate with Murderbot, who wants to add to his security arsenal, a problem on the pacifistic Preservation Station。 The story has strong characters and a tight structure。 4 stars 。。。more
Bookphile,
I will never get over how much these books make me question the idea of artificial intelligence, and what it means to be a person。 I will also never get over how much I love the sardonic, rather misanthropic, MuderBot。
Ian Murray,
A Murderbot short short story
Caitlyn,
Pretty goodReally simple story following another character and their feelings about sentient robots and their rights in corporation。 Suuuuper short, but I’m always glad to have more content from Wells。
Kelsey,
I missed the boat on this short story when it was available for free on a website and every time I've looked for it before today the links wouldn't work。。。looks like it's now licensed and I just bought the ebook and read it yay! Very short story (19 pages) but I will literally buy and read anything related to this series because it's fabulous。 Dr。 Mensah is awesome and I love Murderbot!!!
